The direct image processing on Xovis 3D Sensors helps save energy, time and money. The Xovis 3D Sensors are embedded systems. This means the data is not only gathered but also processed on the device. As a result, Xovis customers receive the data faster, use less energy and save both space and money due to fewer infrastructure requirements.

Unlike other technologies, such as CCTV cameras, Xovis’ people counting and tracking sensors feature a small computer for data processing. Thus, a separate, expensive on-site server to gather, pre-process and deliver data is not required.

With a high-performance FPGA-powered optical data processing unit and a customized Linux operating system, the embedded system of a Xovis 3D Sensor calculates the 3D image. The technology detects people in it, generates event and object streams, and stores basic analytical data onboard. Usually, the data is sent out via the multiple data push options.

The direct image processing also helps to keep the data anonymous. No video stream leaves the sensor, only x-y-coordinates. Xovis manufactures and assembles its products in-house and guarantees a high level of quality.
